If your item is damaged, incorrectly described or not fit for it's purpose, we will replace it as soon as possible at no extra charges to you providing you have followed our terms below. If we cannot replace it, we will refund the full cost of the item or items.

It is important that any damage to any part of a product must be reported to us via email within 7 days of receiving your order. Any damaged product must be repackaged as best as reasonably possible. Even if only one component of an item is damaged (eg. 1 chair of a full dining set), the entire product(s) must not be assembled and repackaged as best as possible. This is in case the whole order requires changing due to manufacturer requirements, or a full refund needing to be offered in the event of stock issues. Therefore it is essential that you do not assemble or use anything until you are happy with each component. (Faults developing at later stages are covered by a manufacturer guarantee).

We cannot accept returns for any item if it has been assembled (unless it is unfit for its purpose in accordance with the Sale of Goods Act 1979). Therefore check each individual part of any flat-packed furniture prior to assembling. Some special order items (items SKUs beginning with CPW) are specially ordered and cannot be returned unless faulty.

If you are not satisfied with your product you must inform us in writing or by email within 7 days of receiving your order, and return it to us within 7 days in its original packaging or thoroughly padded and in resalable condition. If you cannot return it, we will arrange a courier collection at the buyers cost at £35 collection fee per 30KG.

Remember! We ask you not to assemble anything which is visibly damaged so you cannot be held liable for damaging the item during assembly... so please check before you pick up the allen key!

Detailed terms and conditions of our returns policy:

 damages:

  • 4.1 We must be notified in writing within 7 days if your item is damaged. The item should be unassembled if visibly damaged. We will only accept assembled goods if later found to be faulty (ie manufacturing faults).

  • 4.2 You can write to us 24 hours a day, 365 days a year as email support is offered all year round.

  • 4.3 If you fail to inform us in writing within 7 days, we cannot accept any returns so make sure you check your furniture even if you do not intend to use it yet.

  • 4.4 You may email us at sales@themodernhome.co.uk or write to us.

  • 4.5 Replacement parts will be dispatched at the earliest possible date.

  • 4.6 Photographic evidence may be requested via mobile phone.

  • 4.7 Delivery charges are only refundable if items are damaged or faulty.

        cancellations & returns:

  • 5.1 You may cancel your order up to 7 days after receiving your order for a full refund (excluding delivery charges) without giving a reason.

  • 5.2 You may return the item to us within 7 days for a full refund or arrange for us to collect (via courier at £35 per 30KG).

  • 5.3 Special order items such as custom CPW wardrobes and sofas cannot be returned so make sure they fit into your home:

  • 5.4 The item must not have been assembled.

  • 5.5 Mattresses must not have been opened (for hygiene reasons).

  • 5.6 The item must be repackaged in a reasonably resalable condition.

  • 5.7 A £35 charge may be levied for aborted collections if the items are not within these requirements.

  • 5.8 You will be refunded within 7 days after inspection of the goods.

  • 5.9 You may cancel your order for a full refund if your order has not been dispatched. If it has been dispatched and regardless of if you received free delivery, the charge of £35 per 30KG will be deducted. You can find out if your item has been dispatched yet in your account panel. Alternatively, you may wish to receive the delivery which is en route to you, and return it to us at your own cost.

  • 5.9b We charge £35 per 30KG to collect any cancelled goods which must follow the guidelines above.
